One of our beat areas current beat priorities is reducing Theft From Motor Vehicles, We would therefore like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help protect their property.

Many thefts from vehicles are opportunistic, with thieves targeting cars where valuables have been left on display. Please make sure you remove all items before leaving your vehicle unattended, including:

📱 Mobile phones and chargers
💼 Handbags, wallets and purses
🎒 Backpacks and shopping bags
🔧 Work tools and equipment
💻 Laptops, tablets and other electronic devices

Even items that may seem of little value can attract unwanted attention if visible through a window.

When leaving your vehicle:

🔒 Lock all doors and close all windows
👀 Double-check your vehicle is secure before walking away
🅿️ Park in a well-lit, busy location where possible
🏠 If parked at home, remove valuables overnight and keep keys safe

Remember, thieves can strike in a matter of seconds. Taking a few moments to remove valuables and secure your vehicle can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

If you witness suspicious activity around parked vehicles, please report it to the police.
